Today we were looking for a downhill hike, and thanks the the shuttle system in Rocky Mountain National Park, we got just what we were looking for. Turn left onto Bear Lake Road .1 mile past the Beaver Meadows entrance station. There are ways to hike to the lake: the road more traveled and the road less traveled. This is the hardest of the three trails to Bierstadt Lake. We could see Bear Lake Road twisting through the valley to the west and disappearing into the mountains around Emerald Lake.
